What does Family Vacation have for my elementary school-aged kids?
Children ages 4-11 participate in ClubCove, a structured, age-grouped program similar to VBS. Each group enjoys games, crafts, activities, and biblically centered lessons led by trained staff. ClubCove meets for a few hours each morning and evening, giving families time together and time apart.
What about Babies?
Children ages 0-3 can attend ClubCrib, offered during the same times as ClubCove. This environment is designed for rest, stroller rides, and simple play-ideal for the youngest guests.
What does Family Vacation have for my high school-aged kids?
CrossWalk serves junior and senior high students with age-specific sessions, group discussions, and a variety of activities. Dedicated staff help students build community and grow spiritually.
How about college aged young adults?
Collide provides community and connection for young adults who are attending with their families. They join adults for the morning speaker session and then gather separately for discussion and age-appropriate social activities.
How are we supposed to fit in a hotel room?
The Chesapeake Lodge offers a range of room layouts, including options with a queen bed and two twin beds, as well as larger family rooms. The team works with each family to select the best configuration, including adjacent rooms when needed.
What are we going to do all day?
Family Vacation is flexible and designed for guests to choose their pace. Mornings typically include family worship followed by ClubCove, ClubCrib, CrossWalk, and the adult session. Afternoons are open for activities and family time. Evenings offer additional programming for kids and teens, an optional adult service, and nightly special events.
Do you have activities that my family will actually like?
Yes. Activities include rock climbing, archery tag, zip lines, the big swing, swimming, kayaking, tubing, pedal carts, mini golf, ga-ga, playgrounds, crafts, sports tournaments, and more. Options are available for all ages. See a sample schedule here.
What are we going to eat?
Guests enjoy three buffet-style meals each day in the Water's Edge Dining Room. The menu is designed to appeal to a wide range of ages, and dietary restrictions can be accommodated with advance notice. Please fill out our Food For Thought form before arrival and see a food service attendant before meals and they will assist you.
What if we want to camp?
The Pioneer Campground offers tent, RV, and cabin sites. Campers prepare their own meals but have full access to all Family Vacation programming and activities. Click here to learn more!
Do you offer scholarships?
Yes, scholarships are available, including need-based support for families, single parents, and military families through Operation Oasis. Learn more and apply here.
Can I bring a boat?
Yes! Guests are welcome to launch and moor their own recreational or motorboats to use here at no extra cost; although our marina is rather shallow and can be tidal as well. Call ahead (ext. 407) to make sure your boat will work at our Marina.
Will we be required to attend services every day?
Worship and teaching sessions are offered daily and are a meaningful part of the Family Vacation experience, but attendance is optional. Guests are encouraged to participate in what best supports their family's rest and renewal.
What is a life coach?
Each week includes a life coach who speaks during evening sessions and is available for conversation and prayer. This role offers support for guests navigating personal or family challenges.
Is Family Vacation appropriate for kids with special needs?
Many families with children who have special needs have found Sandy Cove to be a welcoming and supportive place to vacation together. While ClubCove and CrossWalk do not provide one-on-one care, the team works with each family to identify appropriate levels of participation.
Can adults without children attend?
Yes. Individuals, couples, empty nesters, and extended family members attend Family Vacation each year. The experience is designed primarily for families but offers meaningful community and activities for all guests.
Additional Information
Children must be supervised at all times. Guests under 18 may not use the pool, fitness center, or TV room without an adult.
