Widow's Journey 2020 was a wonderful time of grace and comfort for those of us in the middle of personal sorrow, and it happened the weekend before the world shut down.
Unfortunately, the world is still largely shut down, and much public health danger still exists. After lots of prayer and consideration, we have decided to cancel Widow's Journey 2021.
Widow's Journey is a conference that cries out for hugs of comfort and arms of encouragement about each other's shoulders. Such physical displays are unwise right now, especially given our age demographic. There's no way we can risk someone ill or asymptomatic coming and inadvertently infecting other guests. Also, speakers are leery of traveling and mingling with people who are, to them, strangers.
At this time, we hope to gather for Widow's Journey 2022 on March 3-5, 2022. I know that's a long way off, especially when you want and need the comfort of others who understand you. I wish things could be different. Perhaps a word of encouragement each month would help. Look for notes from me.
Yours,
Gayle
What a refreshing weekend of encouragement and fellowship! Joleta, Yukon, OK
The Widow's Journey is always encouraging to me personally, allowing me to encourage others and also to hear from God on what He has for me at this stage of my journey and offering nuggets of wisdom that help me go deeper with Him. Anonymous
It is always encouraging to meet with widows and hear their stories how God is working in their lives and to know other women and realize God is not finished with us. Sylvia, Ephrata, PA
Enjoyed everything - especially the speakers. Everything pointed to God's faithfulness in the journey of widowhood. Top notch conference at a great location. Joleta, Yukon, OK
It's been a mountaintop experience - worship, speakers, fellowship with other widows - all excellent!. Amy, Gaithersburg, MD
This experience was just what I needed! I feel closer to God and comforted in His love that I truly needed at this difficult time. Susan, Ephrata, PA
My stay at Sandy Cove was so awesome for Widows Weekend!! The whole program was comfortably organized, insightful, inspiring and fun. The ladies I got to meet and converse with helped to 'make' the weekend for me. By Sunday morning's speaker and the hymns we sang, there were tears flowing.....It is Well with my Soul! The view from the huge windows as we passed from place to place was such a Wow factor. We had boated on these waters in years past, so to see it all again and the sun come out was awe inspiring and a memory instigator....so great! Thanks for all you did for me. Sharon
