Grove Armstrong is Pastor Emeritus of the Central Congregational Church, Derry, New Hampshire, from which he retired in 1996 after a sixteen-year ministry. He and his wife, Charity, have eight children, twenty-nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. They live in Bear, Delaware, and worship at the Bible Fellowship Church of Newark. Grove preaches regularly in the state prison in Smyrna, Delaware, and ministers to International Students at the University of Delaware.
A 1953 graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College and Asbury Theological Seminary in 1956, he served as a Free Methodist minister for seventeen years. After being called to the Central Congregational church in 1980, he served several years as secretary of the Congregational Foundation for Theological Studies. In 1992 the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches awarded him the Harry R. Butman Award for his work in writing the Lay Minister's Training Course. An approved Seminar Instructor with Prison Fellowship International, he has conducted seminars in prisons in Arizona and New Hampshire for the last twenty years. Before moving to Delaware in 2012, he served as a Partnership Ministry Representative for JAARS, an affiliate of the Wycliffe Bible Translators, traveling over the southern states east of Texas to thank donors and raise funds for Bible translation. Charity volunteers as a writer and editor for JAARS.
Between his ministries in the Free Methodist Church and the Congregational Church, he was a District Agent with the Prudential Insurance Company. This experience greatly strengthened his ministry, giving him an appreciation for the spiritual and financial struggles of lay Christians, something he had not truly understood before. Throughout his adult life, his daily meetings with Jesus have sustained and inspired him and blessed his ministry. He has a passion to pass on to others the rich benefits of the privilege of daily meeting with Jesus.
Pastor Armstrong is the author of two books, MEETING JESUS CHRIST, The Theology and Practice of Private Personal Worship and The Kingdom That is Transforming The World. Meeting Jesus Christ, recently published, was written to biblically relieve believers of the unnecessary guilt so many carry about their devotional life. It is receiving an excited and joyful response. The Kingdom That is Transforming the World demonstrates from history how credit for the introduction of the scientific age and all its attending benefits belongs to Jesus and draws from the Scriptures evidence that the Kingdom of God will continue to expand and bless the world until the Lord's return. Kelly Miller, reviewing the book for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, LLC, April 2007, wrote, "I strongly encourage you to read this life-changing, hope-breathing book."
