We sure hope to see you this summer — safely!
May 22, 2020 update
Exactly 74 years ago – the week before Memorial Day – our property was bustling with activity as Dr. George Palmer, his family and friends, worked feverishly to open Sandy Cove Bible Conference.
Dr. Palmer had taken to the airwaves on his Morning Cheer Radio Broadcast to share the vision for this ministry – a summer tent revival and camp meeting facility that would serve thousands. That need was met by the generosity of many who believed in it, too.
Similarly, a few weeks ago, I shared the current need of our ministry. Forced to close on March 13th due to the COVID-19 crisis, I asked you to prayerfully give so we could survive this season and thrive in the next. Your generosity has been overwhelming. You have given close to $200,000, which is humbling to me, and to all of us here at Sandy Cove.
We cannot thank you enough! Your care and concern for this ministry are extraordinary. Honestly, we couldn’t weather this storm without you.
But shutting down has come at a significant cost. The reality is that we have lost more than $1.8 million in income. Groups and program events had to be cancelled or rescheduled. And while we have been working hard to build a plan that retains and captures as much of that revenue as possible, it will be a long road back to getting on our feet. That’s why, in this season of heightened uncertainty, I am so thankful for a solid team that has helped us make wise and strategic decisions.
Once again, it’s the week before Memorial Day and we are bustling in a way that echoes the anticipation of long ago:
Sandy Cove Ministries will reopen safely to serve its mission and you on June 19th.
Experiencing Sandy Cove may look and feel a little different, but we know that it will also feel like home. The sunsets remain majestic and our 220 acres provide for optimal social distancing.
We are excited to welcome you on our property again, so that you can connect with God and others, in order to be transformed into the image of Christ, through His Word, His Creation and community.
Please know that we continue to monitor federal and state guidelines, and we are praying that we can ramp up operations in the coming months. We have all become aware of the risks of exposure to COVID-19 in public gatherings, and each of us has had to determine what risks we are willing to take.
While we are providing a safe, clean facility and putting best practices into place, by coming to Sandy Cove this summer, you will be voluntarily assuming risk for exposure to Covid-19.
If you have reservations as a group or for Family Camp, you will receive specific communications related to your stay.
Again, thank you for standing with us in this storm. For those who gave, thank you; for those who prayed, thank you; for those who will come, thank you; for those who will wait to come, thank you.
We are so very grateful for each one of you and look forward to seeing you soon.
And remember: Jesus Never Fails!
