A special message from our founder's grandson, Paul Palmer, Jr.

    Dear friend,

I’ll do everything I can. That’s what I told the Sandy Cove team when we talked about a post-pandemic future for the ministry, and what it would take to get there. As the grandson of the founder, Dr. George A. Palmer, I have no shortage of stories about the opportunities and challenges that have shaped Sandy Cove over the last 74 years.

In sharing those stories, I am able to convey the breadth of God’s work in and through this ministry, and remind others of the lives that have been changed as a result. I was one of them.

As a young teen, I was baptized in the pool by The Snack Shop — an experience I’ll never forget because it was my grandfather who baptized me. In the years since, my faith has been stretched and strengthened by other watershed moments that have happened right here at Sandy Cove.

I believe this is one of those moments. COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the operation of our ministry and has radically altered the structure of our organization.

As many of you know, we were closed for three months this spring, and 10,000 people who would normally come through our doors simply didn’t. By God’s grace and a lot of hard work, we were able to open on a limited basis in June, and we continue to offer streamlined programs and retreats.

I can tell you with great confidence that Sandy Cove is stable, but we have a very long road ahead of us. And that’s why we need your help.

Today, I am asking you to give what you can, and then some. By making a sacrificial gift to Sandy Cove, you can help us build a bridge to the future. Our goal is to raise $250,000, which will serve as a crucial lifeline in our recovery.

Some said that my grandfather’s initials, GAP, stood for “George Asks Plenty.” His response was always the same: GAP stands for “God Answers Prayer.”

With more than $2 million in lost revenue since March, we have seen God answer prayer. As a board member, I’ve had the opportunity to watch firsthand how He has worked in miraculous ways to sustain this ministry over the last seven months.

Sandy Cove is the outgrowth of a thriving evangelistic ministry that started in the 1930s. In fact, in 1943 a little book was published that chronicled the impact of that ministry. It was called Miracles at Morning Cheer.

Decades later, the miracles continue here at Sandy Cove. Lives are changed, marriages are saved, and the transforming power of Jesus Christ is evident in the testimonies we receive. These are the stories I cling to as I do everything I can to help Sandy Cove get through this.

At the time of my grandfather’s death, there was a plaque hanging in his office. It read: “Expect Great Things from God – Attempt Great Things for God.”

I am expecting Great Things from God, and I pray that you’ll join me in doing what you can to help Sandy Cove come back stronger. With each of us doing our part, $250,000 is well within reach.

    Gratefully,

    Paul Palmer, Jr.
    Chairman of the Board

P.S. Sandy Cove is and always has been about helping people. So when you make a gift, remember that lives will be changed because you gave. That's the reason we’re here.

We have supported Sandy Cove Ministries for many years, because we believe in its mission to help people connect with God and each other. We have seen so many blessed by this ministry. It was at a seminar at Sandy Cove that we were first introduced to the idea of adding Sandy Cove to our will, so that even after our death we could continue to support this wonderful ministry. It is a means of ensuring that our past can become part of the future of Sandy Cove's life, through their mission and ministry to all God's people. It is also an expression of gratitude and thanksgiving towards God for all that we have been given and enjoyed during our life.
