Exercise for Every Fitness Level


Fitness activities include the following classes offered by certified instructors from Body & Soul Christian Fitness Ministries: cardio for all fitness levels, strength training, balance and flexibility with Pilates, and Interval Training for those who think they can’t exercise, as well as seated fitness classes for beginners, and water aerobics with Sue Sabo. Each activity is designed to meet the fitness level of each individual and participation is optional. You’ll also have the opportunity to have a personal consultation with a fitness trainer to develop your own fitness plan.
Delicious First Place 4 Health Meals
Enjoy healthy meals made from the freshest ingredients. You will be amazed at the delicious, satisfying meals you can have using First Place 4 Health recipes. All the recipes will be provided for you to take home and try yourself. Your meal may include Johnny’s Cajun Meatloaf, Chicken Supreme with mushroom gravy and wild rice, Pumpkin Soufflé, Apple Dumplings and more. Breakfast is served continental style with healthy options, such as yogurt, fruit, cereal, bagels and toast.
Rest & Relaxation
Whether you choose to sit in the Adirondack chairs on the lawn overlooking the beautiful Chesapeake Bay or inside behind huge windows, a favorite past-time at Sandy Cove is to revel in the beauty and serenity of the water view on the Headwaters of the Chesapeake Bay. God continues to speak through His magnificent creation at Sandy Cove—the sunsets over the water are breathtaking!
Physical Assessment Testing
Safe and well-supervised physical assessments on your core strength, upper and lower body strength and flexibility and balance will be a part of your first full day at Sandy Cove. These tests will reveal your personal strengths and weaknesses and will establish a starting point for your journey to strength and wellness.
Praise & Worship
We meet together each evening for an exciting program of informative and motivating speakers along with uplifting music by our featured worship leader.
On-site Fun
In addition to the Wellness Week program, there’s a lot to do…on-site fun includes an enclosed sports pool and hot tub, tennis courts, mini golf, Frisbee golf and more!
I want to be pampered…
During the week, a certified relaxation massage therapist will be available. Pamper yourself with a relaxing massage after your workout or before you go to bed.

Prayer Room
Always open, the Prayer Room provides beautiful stations to guide you through a meaningful time of prayer…adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplication.

A member of the original First Place group that began in 1981, Carole has seen the program grow from 12 groups in one church to thousands of members at more than 12,000 churches throughout the nation and in many foreign countries. Carole became the national director of First Place in 1987, and is now a popular speaker and author of 14 books. Carole leads conferences, Christian spas, workshops and seminars with an emphasis on personal and spiritual balance, fitness, encouragement and temperament analysis. Her audiences know her as warm, transparent, honest and humorous.
Vicki is the First Place 4 Health Associate Director and is an A.C.E. Certified Fitness Professional and joined the First Place 4 Health staff in 2006. She has been involved in First Place 4 Health for many years and has led both adult and teen groups at her church. Vicki works closely with all First Place 4 Health Networking Leaders as they network together to get new groups started in every state. Vicki is also a Body & Soul Instructor and is on two First Place Aerobic DVDs. She speaks at First Place 4 Health conferences and events and leads Aerobics at Wellness Weeks each year. She has become a “regular” at Sandy Cove Women’s events providing Moving Minutes 4 Health. Don’t Quit Get Fit is her first book.
Lisa has practiced the disciplines of a healthy lifestyle for many years. She is an accomplished runner and group fitness instructor and has taught wellness classes for over seven years. She has served in a leadership capacity and led seminars for the Christian wellness organization, First Place 4 Health and now serves as its Director of Events/Special Projects. Lisa has a passion for helping individuals learn the importance of balancing good nutrition with physical exercise to maintain a long, healthy life.

This is a Child Free Event. We love babies and children and we know you do too! But “Child Free Events” are your opportunity to be free from some of your normal daily responsibilities.
