Once Upon A Rock - Matthew 16:13-20

Speaker: Dr. James Ayers

Once upon a rock in ancient Palestine, Greek and Roman pagans worshiped the mythological god, Pan. Jesus visited that region of Caesarea Philippi with His band of disciples. The piercing question Jesus asked them on that day still reverberates in hearts today: Who do you say I am? Our answer charts the course of eternity!

After serving for 20 years as the Coordinator of the Pastoral Studies majors and Chair of the Department of Church and Ministry Leadership, Dr. James R. Ayers is now a Professor at Large at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, PA. He has the distinction of being one of the favorite professors of our own Stephen Weaver. A native of Hanover, PA, Dr. Ayers earned a B.S. in Bible at Lancaster Bible College, a Master of Arts in Counseling Services from Rider College, Lawrenceville, NJ, and a Master of Letters and Doctor of Philosophy in Religion and Society from Oxford Graduate School, Dayton, TN, with studies at Oxford University in England. Prior to joining the Lancaster Bible College faculty in 1993, Dr. Ayers served as Senior Pastor for eight years at Easton Bible Church in Mount Holly, NJ, and as a faculty member at Cairn University in Langhorne, PA, for six years. In addition to his duties as professor, Dr. Ayers has led seven academic study tours to Israel on behalf of the College and is a frequent speaker at retreats, conferences, and churches. He and his wife Betsy, reside at Rock Hill Farm in Lititz, PA. Their three sons and six grandchildren live in Pennsylvania and Florida.

Musicians: The Oak Grove Quartet
We are The Oak Grove Quartet from The Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bel Air, Maryland and we have been singing for over 16 years. We are primarily a southern gospel quartet but also feature other musical styles including a capella singing of old hymns of the church. We consider it an honor and a privilege to share God’s message in song.
