I have three abiding passions: encouraging my sisters in Christ, exploring the stories of women in the Bible, and writing novels set in Scotland of old. When I’m not traveling, speaking, or spinning a story, I connect with readers online, take copious photos, read historical novels, watch period films, and immerse myself in research—the more books, the merrier. I’m a lame housekeeper, a marginal cook, and a mediocre gardener, but home is still my favorite place to land.
Women of Faith, Women of Joy, Among Friends, Time Out for Women, Moody Women, Women of Virtue, Extraordinary Women, Win-some Women, Women’s Journey of Faith, Women Who Worship, Christian Women Communicating International—if it’s a conference for and about women, Liz Curtis Higgs is honored to be there.
Her messages are biblical, encouraging, down-to-earth, and profoundly funny, helping both sisters and seekers embrace the truth of God’s amazing, unchanging grace.
Liz’s dedication to platform ministry has not gone unnoticed. In 1995 the National Speakers Association honored Liz with their Council of Peers Award of Excellence. Her alma mater, Bellarmine University, presented her with a Distinguished Alumni Award in 2005. And she received an Honorary Doctorate from Georgetown College in 2010.
But what Liz cares about most are the women seated in front of her, first row to last.
Liz is the author of more than 30 books, with 4.5 million copies in print. Her latest release, The Women of Christmas, is a heartwarming Bible study wrapped inside a beautiful gift book. Verse by verse, Liz unpacks the biblical stories of Elizabeth, Mary, and Anna, who each welcome the Christ child into the world in a marvelous and miraculous way.
In her best-selling Bad Girls of the Bible series, Liz breathed new life into ancient tales about the most infamous—and intriguing—women in history, from Jezebel to Mary Magdalene. Scripturally sound and cutting-edge fresh, these popular titles have helped more than one million women around the world experience God’s grace anew.
With The Girl’s Still Got It, Liz offered a twenty-first century take on the book of Ruth, dishing out meat and milk, substance and style, in a highly readable, always entertaining, and deeply personal journey with one of the Good Girls of the Bible.
Liz also spent a decade as an award-winning columnist for Today’s Christian Woman magazine. Her articles have appeared in Faith&Friends in Canada, WomanAlive in Great Britain, and Enhance in Australia.
Allison communicates the Gospel in all she does, in mega-churches such as First Baptist Atlanta (Dr. Charles Stanley), The Brooklyn Tabernacle, First Baptist Orlando (Rev. Jim Henry), as well as small rural churches. She has also been a featured artist for many Bible study cruises with Charles Stanley and D. James Kennedy. She has also performed with evangelists Luis Palau, Bailey Smith, David Ring, and Johnny Hunt (First Baptist Church of Woodstock, GA). Her appearances on the Gaither Homecoming videos, The 700 Club, and The Trinity Broadcasting Network have left the nation wanting more of this incredible singer. Allison’s latest recording, “This Old House,” showcases the depths of her musical abilities and her passion for showcasing the Gospel with poetry. Her performance seems effortless but pushes you beyond the voice to allow you one to become intimate with the message. “This Old House” is packed with scripture and Bible stories. Allison says, “It is the best opportunity I’ve had to “re-present” the Gospel.” “My music is for people who need Jesus, and we ALL need Jesus. This one similarity overthrows all the politics of our differences. I’m learning that you can make a feast on a mustard seed of faith. So when I sing, I just welcome folks to the table.”
Michael Faircloth is a recording artist, Christian concert pianist and veteran “Artist in Residence” at Sandy Cove for more than twenty years. He is an accomplished concert pianist who regularly blesses Sandy Cove audiences with his original arrangements of classical, traditional and contemporary Christian music. Michael’s music is impressive and powerful, balanced by his humble spirit and generous sense of humor. He currently serves as pianist/accompanist for The National Christian Choir and on Sunday mornings when Michael isn’t performing elsewhere, he serves in the music ministry at New Life Community Church in Kingsville, Maryland.
Nicole Unice is a fresh voice for the next generation. Part bible teacher, part community organizer, part busy mom–Nicole has the uncanny ability to relate to people in all ages and stages of life with her “keeping it real” approach to ordering a life around God’s word.
Nicole’s teaching reaches wide, both as a writer and speaker. Her first book, She’s Got Issues, released May 2012 and speaks to a fundamental question of faith: is being a Christian supposed to change me? The book is followed by a DVD Group Experience, a six-week journey of interviews, questions and teaching around the book.
Nicole’s invitations to speak have taken her across the country to conferences and women’s retreats, big and small. Her heart belongs to Hope Church, where she serves as a ministry associate, directing a full-time residency program called Praxis and supporting the mission and vision of Hope.
You can catch her podcasting every Tuesday with senior pastor David Dwight, where they spend 15 minutes talking about “God’s truth and modern life” and laughing about all kinds of other things. David and Nicole have co-authored a new book called “Start Here: Beginning a Relationship with Jesus”, which releases in April 2014.
Nicole received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the College of William and Mary and her masters in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. She loves creating a space for ministry and spiritual formation in the everyday rhythms of life with her awesome husband Dave, their three young children, and a mischievous puppy named Shep. Nicole is known for making friends in all corners of the world–especially via social media. So connect with her on her Facebook page or via Twitter–and hopefully face to face at one of her upcoming events.
