Dear summer families,
Greetings from Sandy Cove! And by “Sandy Cove,” I mean my dining room, as we continue with “business as unusual” as best we can.
As you also settle into a routine of unusual, you may be thinking ahead and wondering things like “How is Sandy Cove? Are they going to make it? Will we be able to come back to Family Camp this summer?”
Well, those are all good questions, and ones we have been wondering about as well! Over the past two weeks, our leadership team and board have been paying the most attention to “Are they going to make it?” as we puzzle out a path that would allow for long term viability of the ministry, as well as care for the staff as we suddenly can’t operate due to government restrictions.
The question about Family Camp happening is also a good one, and for now the best answer we can give is “We don’t know right now.”
Obviously, we would like nothing more than July to find us gathered back together (safely) in a place that we all love, connecting with God and each other, enjoying the peace and beauty of His creation, processing all He is teaching us, and singing a song about how with Jesus in the boat we DID smile in the storm!
However, there are many factors right now that are outside of our control that could make that an impossibility. Losing a summer of Family Camp is not a scenario we desire, but it could happen. At this point, we just want to give it as much of a chance to happen as we can.
So, to that end, here is the plan:
As I’ve thought about Family Camp recently, I found it interesting that two years ago our theme was “Fearless” and last year we talked about “Peace” – which both have a lot of relevance to our present situation, huh? This summer, I’ve been planning a theme of “Who’s Who” focusing on our identity of who we are in Christ – but it seems like we are already doing the prep work for that discussion as we come to realize that our identity and security is not found in our jobs, our health, how busy we are, our favorite sports teams, or any of the other potential idols that have been pried from our hands lately. I’m hoping that we get a chance to talk about this in person this summer!
In the meantime, thank for listening, and if you have thoughts, ideas, prayer requests, whatever, feel free to shoot me an email – I’ve got nothing but time these days :) firstname.lastname@example.org
Keep smiling in the storm!

Family camp is for parents and kids. Big families, single parent families, blended families, extended families. Struggling, imperfect families. God's family. Small families. All families. Your family.
If you have ever thought that staying in a hotel, with three meals a day on buffet, and someone else washing dishes and vacuuming was how God intended for us to "camp" this is for you! Have a blast with your kids, be spiritually encouraged and challenged by fantastic Bible teachers, turn down the noise, rest and relax together!
There are 5 weeks (Sun - Fri) during the Summer of 2020 to choose from:
Sandy Cove is in Maryland, at the very top of the Chesapeake Bay (and looking straight at the sunset!). We are just 10 minutes off I-95, but you will feel "away from it all" as soon as you turn down our road!
It sounds presumptuous to say a vacation will change your life, so for now, let's just say it is an investment in your family, as you reconnect with God and each other. Bonding. A break. Plus, it is super fun!!
This was our first time and it was perfect for our family - a great balance of family, vacation & worship. Stello Family, Virgnia Beach, VA
