KEYNOTE AND WORKSHOP SPEAKER
Dotty Schmitt

Keynote Session
"Help! I’m a Pastor’s Wife."
What’s my job description? How can I wear all the "expected" hats? Who ministers to me? What about my marriage and family? These are only some of the questions we will enthusiastically explore in this session.

Breakout Session
"Things I Was Never Told"
This will be an interactive workshop on issues of being a woman, a wife, a mother, and the wife of a Pastor! Expect a lively discussion and some life-changing impartations.
Dotty Schmitt Dotty Schmitt and her husband, Charles, presently serve on the Pastoral Staff of Immanuel's Church in Silver Spring, MD, which they founded in 1983. They are also the very proud parents of 3 grown daughters, and 5 amazing grandchildren.

Dotty has experience as a school teacher, senior pastor's wife, radio talk show host, writer, and international speaker. She had a life-changing encounter with Jesus in 1951, and began teaching the Scriptures in 1954. Dotty has authored 3 books, The Delight of Being His Daughter, The Bride Wore Combat Boots, and The Threshold of Glory.

Her delight is to see others practically equipped and encouraged in the Word, and in the love and power of the Holy Spirit. Her life's journey has taught her how to both weep and to laugh, and so will you, as you listen to Dotty unfold the beauty, as well as, often bewildering ways of the Lord, through the revelation of His Word.

Breakout Session
"All for the Glory of God."

1 Cor 13:31

Too often, our perception of what brings glory to God is misunderstood to be only the world-changing and self-sacrificing conquests of famous missionaries or evangelists. However, our entire life is to be caught up with bringing glory to God in all we do, even in our eating and drinking!

Liz Curtis Higgs brings to life her best-selling book Bad Girls of the Bible in this funny, fast-paced hour with ten of the Bible's best known femmes fatales and one enthusiastic audience. Eve had food issues. Potiphar's Wife and Delilah had man trouble. Lot's Wife and Michal couldn't let go of the past, Sapphira couldn't let go of money, and Jezebel couldn't let go of anything. You'll also see how the Woman at the Well quenched her thirst for the truth, while Rahab and the Sinful Woman left their sordid histories behind, proving Bad Girls have a gloriously good future.

  • Things I Was Never Told - Dotty Schmitt (Milburn)
This will be an interactive workshop on issues of being a woman, a wife, a mother, and the wife of a Pastor taught by a wise, articulate and experienced senior pastor's wife. Expect a lively discussion and some life-changing impartations.

  • All for the Glory of God - Dámaris Carbaugh (Hatfield)
Too often, our perception of what brings glory to God is misunderstood to be only the world-changing and self-sacrificing conquests of famous missionaries or evangelists. However, our entire life is to be caught up with bringing glory to God in all we do, even in our eating and drinking!

  • Dealing with Pornography - Mark P. & Lori Fisher (Guistwite) Tuesday only!
It is painful to admit, but pornography is much more prevalent in the church and among leadership than we want to believe. This session will answer questions about how and why men are prone to the trap of pornography. What are the warning signs? Where to get help? What is the recovery process? How can a wife help, or how is she actually a hindrance? Is there hope? An open and candid discussion about a difficult topic.

  • Video: "Divide & Conquer… the Bible" Part 1 & Part 2 by Judy Reamer (Chesapeake Auditorium)
Want to learn a practical way to read through the Bible? Learn what to do from this influential presentation. Judy shares how a man who read the Bible 15,000 times radically changed her former Bible reading experience. Ninety-nine percent of believers have never read through the Bible one time! Ninety percent of ministers haven't either…and Judy was one of them. Thousands of people have become readers of the scripture through this presentation. You will learn how to read the Bible several times in a year and find yourself encouraged by the simplicity and ease with which you can work this unique message into your life.

  • Video: "Make Your Marriage a Great Marriage" - Barbara Rosberg (Guistwite) Wednesday only!
Marriage expert, Barbara Rosberg, outlines the greatest love needs of both men and women. She shows a woman how to meet her husband's needs, while getting her own needs met in the process. Next to her relationship with God, the marital relationship is the most important relationship a married woman will have. Barbara challenges and shows women how to make their marriages great, and avoid or repair suffering that comes from painful or difficult marital relations.

  • Video: "Total Momsense" - Anita Renfroe (Chesapeake Auditorium) Tuesday afternoon activity.
Anita Renfroe is not right-and that's a good thing! Her high-octane, estrogen-flavored 75 minute comedy concert is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud. Includes the widely acclaimed "Momism Overture."

For Women Only. The Pastors’ Wives Conference is designed as a women’s event and therefore it is for women only. We feel strongly about providing an environment at this conference where women feel safe to be real in their roles and will be free to express their struggles about those roles as pastors’ wives. All meal times are a natural extension of the entire conference and therefore fellowship with other women at meals is vital to the overall experience. The presence of husbands, babies and children at this conference would jeopardize the stated ministry purpose for this event. For pastors’ wives who want to have their husbands with them at Sandy Cove, we provide the Church Leadership Conference and the Mini Sabbaticals in which they can participate.
