Pastors Wives

Our experience with pastors’ wives and women in ministry is that they need refreshment, acceptance, support, encouragement and refocusing on the Lord. The goal of this conference is for you to have an unforgettable experience of connection with God and each other that will minister LIFE to Body, Soul & Spirit.

Ministry women & wives have unique needs…one of which is the fellowship of others who understand what you are going through and are able to share what has worked in their own situations. We offer you the chance to connect, pray with each other and establish lasting relationships. Discover a safe place for healing and encouragement and a program that will leave you feeling loved and cared for.

In the past, this conference was geared for pastors’ wives only. In an effort to use our resources wisely, expand our effectiveness, and continue to minister to wives and women in ministry we are offering this conference for a combined audience. In an effort to meet the need for a safe place to share and fellowship with those in similar roles, we will provide homogeneous small groups.

Come away to celebrate and explore the unique joys and challenges of your role as a pastor’s wife or woman in ministry. Be refreshed and connect with women who understand!

“Jesus, Be at Home in My Heart!”

“As we look together at Ephesians 3:14-20, it is my prayer that we will each experience more of what it means for Christ to be truly at home in our hearts.” ~ Chaundel Holladay

And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love.
Ephesians 3:17 (NLT)

Chaundel Holladay, speaker
Chaundel Holladay

Chaundel Holladay loves being the wife of a pastor. Having grown up in a pastor’s home, she knew what she was getting into. She and her husband, Pastor Tom Holladay, have served at Saddleback Church in Southern California for 18 years where her brother, Rick Warren, author of the best-selling book, The Purpose Driven Life, is the founding pastor. Before coming to Saddleback, Tom was the senior (only) pastor of a small church in Northern California for 10 years. Chaundel has served in various ministries including leading and teaching women’s Bible studies, but her passion is leading the ministers’ wives ministry for the 70+ Saddleback ministers’ wives. Having a heart for pastors’ wives—both those who felt “called” to be a minister’s wife or those who wonder how in the world they married a man who ended up in ministry—causes Chaundel to search these women out wherever she travels around the world.

Chaundel is the mother of three children ages 24, 21 and 17 and a brand-new grandma. She appreciates any time she gets to spend in her yard or trying to turn her 1960s house into a Victorian and always loves getting a great deal – especially at garage sales.

Sessions

  · Jesus, Be at Home in My Heart
Homes are important to women and rightly so but the most important home that deserves our attention is
    in our hearts.

  · Jesus, Be at Home in My Family Room
Relationships, entertainment, relaxation all take place in this area of our hearts.

  · Jesus, Be at Home in My Storeroom
What does it look like for Christ to be the Lord of our “stuff?"

  · Jesus, Be at Home in My Workroom
So many good things to do and so little time. How do we let Christ reign in our schedule, work and ministry?

Breakout Sessions

· “Working Out on Inside Things”
Frances Drost
Do you ever feel as if you could be a better person if only your circumstances could change and then when your circumstances change, you find the same old attitudes and habits are still there and you begin to realize that it's not the circumstances that need to change - it's YOU that needs to change?

This session is a singer/songwriter's journey, based on Psalm 73, through story and song about finding true joy no matter what the circumstances. Take an honest look at the 'inside things' of your soul and let God change your perspective, with or without a change in the outward circumstances.

· “When God Whispers (Hearing the Voice of God)”
Paula Harris
I Kings 19: 11-13 We serve a living God and He still speaks to us today. In the midst of everyday living, it is easy to let the noise and clatter around us drown out the whispers of God. Are your ears attentive to His voice (John 10:1-4)? He is ready to speak that one thing needed to encourage, comfort, and strengthen us. Come join us for this session and be prepared to hear His voice.

For Women Only.

The Pastors’ Wives Conference is designed as a women’s event and therefore it is for women only. We feel strongly about providing an environment at this conference where women feel safe to be real in their roles and will be free to express their struggles about those roles as pastors’ wives. All meal times are a natural extension of the entire conference and therefore fellowship with other women at meals is vital to the overall experience. The presence of husbands, babies and children at this conference would jeopardize the stated ministry purpose for this event. For pastors’ wives who want to have their husbands with them at Sandy Cove, we provide the Couples Retreat for Pastors and the Mini Sabbaticals in which they can participate.
