Staff from Uniontown Bible Church will present 4 optional sessions on DISCIPLESHIP…
Session I – Discipling the Leaders Around You
Tim Webster: Senior Pastor, Uniontown Bible Church
Discipleship begins with you. Whether you are a senior pastor, work with youth or run the office, God is calling you to make disciples. At the same time, He is calling you to do ministry in partnership with others. Given these two callings, it makes sense to begin our disciple-making efforts by pouring into a team. In this session, we’ll learn together from God’s Word how to guide individuals on our team toward Christ-likeness.
Session II – Discipling According To Jesus
Steve Hreha: Equipping Pastor, Uniontown Bible Church
What’s the content of your disciple-making efforts? Quite often churches rely on standard discipleship resources that stress the importance of a handful of elementary practices: 1) Prayer; 2) Bible reading; 3) Obedience; 4) Fellowship; 5) Evangelism. Is this what Jesus had in mind when He commissioned His followers to “Go and make disciples?” Or did Jesus share a different disciple-making paradigm and process? This session considers the importance of teaching what Jesus commanded as the ‘core curriculum’ to reproduce disciples strong in the faith and ready to reach the world.
Session III – Making Disciples Who Make Disciples
Pete Green: Youth Pastor, Uniontown Bible Church
There can be no greater joy at times than seeing a high school student desire to image Jesus. In this session we will talk about some crucial elements in having a Christ Centered Youth Ministry. This includes topics such as: 1) making God's Word central in your ministry through large and small group settings; 2) developing and discipling your leadership team; 3) the importance of parent involvement; 4) going deep and wide; 4) worship and serving (and more). Join us as we discuss the great joy it is to have Christ at the center of your youth ministry
Session IV – Discipling “Those Kind of People”
Dave Dent: Executive Pastor, Uniontown Bible Church
Paragraph description: How does the Lord address those he comes into contact with who the world might call “the less fortunate”, the “down and outers”, the “afflicted”, or “those people”? The same way he addresses every other person. How do we help those in our church and community who struggle with a hurt, habit or hang-up? No differently. But where do we begin? We will explore an outline to healing and recovery involving the biblical principles found in the beatitudes in Matthew 5. |

A husband and wife, both doctors, raising a family and starting a faith clinic in New York needed rest…
Reverend Fisher:
We know we had the chance to personally thank you, but we wanted the rest of the staff to know as well how blessed we were by the time we spent with all of you this past weekend. On the way home from Sandy Cove, we talked about how very clear it was that we had had a watershed experience with the Lord. Reverend Fisher, you had told us on day one when we got there that your prayer was "God would speak to [us] and that [we] would be able to listen." Well, as we mentioned to you, God did speak, and His recurrent message throughout the weekend was one of immense encouragement and comfort, that "Jesus never fails". Even with all the challenges we face with starting the health center, raising a family, and trying to be lights in a world of darkness, what a wonderful reminder to know that He will not fail us. God's closeness and personal interest in us was clear from the times we spent in prayer together; through our devotions; through the sights, sounds and smells of the Cove; through so many interactions with the staff - from the front desk to the dining team to the cleaning team! - and through all the people we met who were visiting and resting along with us.
There are those whom God has called to fight His battles by direct engagement with the unbelieving world. But there are those whom God has called to join the fight by being the solid "supply lines" to which soldiers can retreat back to for a short respite, nourishment, and re-equipping before going back into battle. You and your staff are a Rock-steady "supply line" for us, and one which soldiers can retreat back to for a short respite, nourishment, and re-equipping before going back into battle. You and your staff are a Rock-steady "supply line" for us, and one which we eagerly await the chance to return to again. God bless all of you and know that what you are doing for those of us "out here" is making a huge difference. You are in our steady prayers.
~ Peace and grace, Drs. David and Janet Kim (along with Grace and Joy!) |
