About Us

The Marsh, A Day Camp at Sandy Cove offers fun, challenge, excitement, and opportunities for learning and spiritual growth in an environment designed specifically for kids. With a ratio of one staff member for every six campers, we will get to know your child personally!

• Our programs are designed for boys and girls ages 6 to 14.
• The Marsh will operate 9 weeks in 2010, June 21 to August 20.
• Each five day session is a great value! We provide lunch and snacks. Wednesdays are special! We either go on a day trip expedition or bring the adventure to the Marsh! Thursday is "Late Night" for campers ages 9-14.
• We offer FREE extended care for multi-week campers! (4-week minimum per camper required)
• We hire young Christian men and women who truly desire to work at The Marsh and have strengths and abilities that allow them to be effective leaders for your children.

Your child's exciting journey of exploration will take place in North East, Maryland at Sandy Cove Ministries. At The Marsh, boys and girls are grouped by age for a dynamic, fun-filled week in our non-profit, non-denominational Christian day camp. In a child's eyes, The Marsh is a place where every day is filled with making new friends, learning about God's amazing love, discovering new interests and playing until they are worn out! 
 
From thrilling activities to creative adventures, Bible teaching to unique games, campers are sure to have a blast and grow in their relationship with Christ! Our staff will provide instruction, supervision and encouragement in a Christ-centered fashion.

For over 60 years, Sandy Cove Ministries has been providing "Christian camping at its best!" Since 2001, The Marsh has continued this same tradition of excellence. Our accreditation by the American Camp Association (ACA) and membership with the Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA) demonstrates our commitment to providing quality programs for your child. All children are welcome to attend our programs regardless of race, religion or national origin.

Weekly Themes

Every day at The Marsh is filled with excitement! Weekly adventures, expeditions (day trips), dress up days, unique games and creative activities make each week exciting for campers of all ages. But that's not all…

All weeks are geared for boys and girls ages 6 to 14. Ages for special programs are noted. 

June 21 to June 25 
Amazon Adventure

Join us as we trek through the jungles of South America, but beware the dangers and mysteries of the Amazon! Wednesday Adventure: Big Fun Splash Day at The Marsh. 

Special Program: Canoeing Camp 
Canoe camp is back! Paddle your way around the bay as you learn or improve your canoeing skills. Additional fee. Ages 12-14 only. 
 
June 28 to July 2 
Oceans of Fun – A Wet & Wild Adventure

Swim! Splash! Play! It’s Wet & Wild Week with an under the sea twist! Wednesday Expedition:  Day trip to Wilmington, Delaware for Tubing on the Brandywine River.   

Special Program: Junior Outdoor Adventure Camp 
Your days will be filled with activities such as outdoor cooking, rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking and more! Additional fee. Ages 10-11 only.  

July 5 to July 9 
Commercial Free Week

Cartoons, reality shows and all those mysteries will make for a great week at The Marsh! Why just watch TV when you can make your own television themed fun with all your friends?  Wednesday Expedition: TBD.

Special Program: Outdoor Adventure Camp 
Your days will be filled with activities such as outdoor cooking, rock climbing, zip line, canoeing, kayaking and more! Additional fee. Ages 12-14 only.

Lost Worlds Adventure

Follow the clues through this ancient land and see if you can solve the mysteries that lie within!  Wednesday Expedition: Day trip to Cherry Crest Farm and the Amazing Maize Maze.   

July 19 to July 23 
Marsh Madness Adventure

It’s down-side up and back to front in this week of fun, games and surprises! Get ready for a week like no other! Wednesday Expedition: Day trip to Christiana Skating Center (roller skating).   

July 26 to July 30 
Wipe Out!

It’s a week of wet & wild fun with games and competitions you’ll be sure to love! Wednesday Expedition: Day trip to The Pond Ice Arena (ice skating).   

August 2 to August 6 
Safari Adventure

Prepare yourself for a critter encounter like you’ve never had before. What can you learn from the animals all around us? Wednesday Expedition: Day trip to Plumpton Park Zoo. 

August 9 to August 13 
Race Around the Globe

Grab your passport and join us for a whirlwind race around the globe! From North to South and East to West, we promise a world of fun! Wednesday Expedition: Day trip to Bowlerama in New Castle, DE (bowling).

August 16 to August 20 
Pirate Adventure

Set sail with us on a high seas adventure! There’s mayhem to be made and treasure to be found! Wednesday Adventure: Cosmic Adventures traveling planetarium comes to The Marsh.

Daily Schedule

Fun and Games and So Much More!

Our staff work hard to ensure that every day is filled with fun at The Marsh. Daily Bible studies, weekly themes, day trips, special guests, dress up days, talent shows, special meals, unique games and creative activities make each week exciting for campers of all ages.

 

Thursday is "Late Night at The Marsh!"

Each Thursday, campers ages 9 and older will have an opportunity to stay late at The Marsh. Have a great time making Marsh Stew, playing fun games and hitting the pool* for an evening swim. Campers must be picked up at 9:00 pm. 

Extended Care

Child care is available 7:00-8:30 am and 4:30-6:00 pm if your schedule does not allow for arrival and pick up during regular camp hours.  Choose each week based on your needs. Pre-registration is required – sign up when you register for the week. FREE for campers registered for at least 4 weeks. 

*Modest swimsuits are required (one-piece for girls, baggy shorts for boys).

Rates

Basic Camp Fee $195

Your $195 includes 5 days of day camp, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, packed with fun and adventure, a daily nutritious kid-friendly lunch and snack, constant supervision and mentoring by caring trained staff and great learning opportunities!

Optional Fees

Gifts to The Marsh Scholarship Fund are received from individuals who recognize the valuable impact a camping experience at the Marsh can have on the life of a child. Registration Instructions

1.    Register online at www.sandycove.org/themarsh

2.    Pay a $50 deposit per week per child online

3.    Upon registering you will receive an e-mail confirmation and the necessary forms:             

4.    Payment in full is required by June 1, 2010 and can be scheduled for automatic payment when registering online.

5.    When registering after June 1st, full payment is due at the time of registration.

Cancellation Policy

If you cannot attend the week for which you are registered, please notify The Marsh immediately. All camp fees are fully refundable and transferable up to four weeks before your child is scheduled to arrive at The Marsh. Cancellations after that time will not receive a refund of camp fees, nor a transfer to another week.
