A note from Candy Davison, Women’s Ministry Coordinator:
Grandmas these days are youthful, vibrant and eager to pass on a legacy of faith and love to their grandchildren. This weekend is all about connecting with other grandmothers, comparing stories, gathering ideas, and coming to the Lord for biblical wisdom. It’s also a time for rest, relaxation and fun – time for Grandma to give herself a break!
Kathy Benjamin is certainly the quintessential “Grandma Off Her Rocker” who is active, fun, engaged in life and eager to pass on the Faith to her grandchildren! So I am looking forward to having her as the speaker for this event. You will enjoy her energetic and passionate communication style!
Rebecca Benjamin is Kathy’s daughter-in-law and mother to 6 of Kathy’s grandchildren. She must have plenty of energy herself—just read her bio!! You will love Rebecca’s beautiful singing voice and she promises to bring a variety of musical styles to our praise and worship.
Don’t miss this great weekend! As an “Off the Rocker” Grandma myself, I’m looking forward to seeing you! |

| Kathy Benjamin, speaker |
|
Kathy has southern roots but raised her 3 children in the north as her late husband was on the music faculty of Philadelphia Biblical University until his sudden death in 2004. She and her husband spent 4 years in the Netherlands and 2 years in Africa doing missionary work – years that greatly grew her faith.
Kathy teaches private piano lessons, speaks at women’s retreats and other events, and has her cup overflowing with 13 grandchildren (including triplets)! Story-telling is her forte so she teaches Biblical truth from Bible stories and loves to share of God’s faithfulness from her many life’s experiences. It’s with enthusiasm that she proclaims that “HIM-dependent” living is good living! She’s convinced that God doesn’t promise to eliminate pain from our lives but uses it to make us holy and gives us opportunity to experience Him and the abundant life He desires for us.
Kathy’s messages are challenges to trust God in the darkest hours of life because Jesus Never Fails!!
Favorite hobbies are scrap booking, reading, playing piano, and line dancing to good ole’ southern gospel music! When she hears a beat she’s on her feet! |
| Rebecca Benjamin, musician |
|
Rebecca was raised in a loving, Christian home and believed at an early age that Jesus died on the cross for her sins, rose again and that He is in Heaven building a home for her there. At the age of 13 when she went away on a mission’s trip, she rededicated her life to Jesus. She praises God for that pivotal time in her life and the God-directed choices she made as a result.
Rebecca has Bachelor’s degrees in Bible and Music Education from Philadelphia Biblical University and a Master’s degree in Education from PBU as well. It was in a college music ministry group that she met her husband, Blair, and they now have the privilege and awesome responsibility of raising six wonderful children.
Rebecca is the Music and Worship Ministries Coordinator at Bucks County Community Church in Langhorne, PA, teaches private piano and voice lessons, and is the Coordinator for MOPS of BCCC. She also teaches a creative arts integration course at PBU, has a solo concert ministry, leads worship, speaks at retreats and sings at various other venues. |
| Pat Vanderhorst, breakout speaker |
|
Pat and her husband of 42 years are the loving parents of three and grandparents of seven. Tom is a retired pilot and Pat is an educator, author and speaker. Beginning in 2002 they began hosting their grandchildren for a week- long adventure at their cottage—the experience is called Camp Heritage.
What began as a week alone with their grandchild has grown into a significant and memorable tradition—one that will serve to pass on their legacy to the family’s next generation—a week full of fun, crafts, adventures and enrichment known as Camp Heritage. Drawing from life and faith, Pat and Tom use camp to infuse themselves into their grandchildren—to give them a heritage of memories—instilling values, traditions and history. They have written a book titled “Camp Heritage ~ Creating a Grandparent’s Legacy,” a hands-on manual to help grandparents develop and initiate special time with their grandchildren. The couple lives in Grayson, Georgia. |
| Grandmothers Then and Now - Author Unknown |
In the dim and distant past
When life's tempo wasn't fast,
Grandma used to rock and knit,
Crochet, tat and baby-sit.
When the kids were in a jam
They could always count on Gram.
In an age of gracious living
Grandma was the gal for giving.
Grandma now is at the gym
Exercising to keep slim.
She's off touring with the bunch,
Or taking all her friends to lunch.
Driving north to ski or curl
All her days are in a whirl.
Nothing seems to block or stop her
Now that grandma's off her rocker.

| Sandy Cove Addendum by Candy Davison |
Sandy Cove’s another matter
If Gram’s not careful, she’ll get fatter.
All that great food made by others
Served with love by Sisters and Brothers.
But most of all she loves the peace
Where all her troubles seem to cease.
She sees God’s beauty all around
And hospitality abound.
Grandma’s family still needs her
To love and pray or soothe a fever.
They need her calming Godly manner
Amidst this world’s chaos and clamor.
So Sandy Cove serves as a shelter
When all of life seems helter-skelter!
Now that Grandma’s off her rocker
She needs a place where God can stop her.
