The more we minister to moms and daughters around the world, the more we realize that most moms will do whatever it takes to get closer to their teen daughter. And most girls want a tighter bond with Mom but just don't know how to get it.

Closer: Moms and Daughters, in association with Focus on the Family, is an event full of hugs, special speakers, laughter, praise and worship, bonding, spiritual growth, drama, and ends with a sacred covenant between mom, daughter and God sealed with a special piece of jewelry presented at the event.

Susie Shellenberger, speaker

Susie Shellenberger is an international speaker and the founding editor of Brio Magazine for teen girls published by Focus on the Family. She's a former youth pastor who later taught high school speech and drama and has been to every continent in the world (yes, even Antarctica). Susie has written 45 books and sometimes eats cereal for dinner. As someone who has never been involved with drugs, alcohol or smokes, Susie wondered during her teen years if she even had a testimony. But the Lord finally taught her that living conservatively is a powerful testimony. She challenges moms and daughters to laugh, cry and pray together. You'll love her humor, her dynamics and her spiritual depth.

Kathy Gowler, speaker

Kathy Gowler has counseled hundreds of teen girls face to face and through email questions sent to Brio Magazine seeking advice about everything: modesty, purity, dating issues and how to get moms to listen with their hearts. Kathy coordinates the annual international Brio missions trip involving several thousand teens from around the world, as well as the Brio Mother/Daughter cruises. She has co-authored two books with Susie Shellenberger, "Here For You" and the newly released "What Your Daughter Isn't Telling You." A mom and recently first-time grandmother, Kathy and her husband, Jeff, have successfully raised two now-adult children who love God and their parents!

Lulu & Mimi, dramatists

Lulu & Mimi met in Sunday school at age three when they ganged up to steal a graham cracker and juice box from the boy next to them. In grade school, teachers said they laughed too much. In middle school, teachers said they talked too much. In high school they were called drama queens, and during college they finally put it all together and have been making people laugh and cry ever since. You'll love the way they bring mom/daughter issues to life on stage.
