The Sandy Cove Board of Trustees announces three new Board members starting March 2008.
Mr. James E. Doherty lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife Karen and four children. He is the Vice President of Operations, Americas for Voith Paper Fabrics and is a member of Open Door Baptist Church. He serves as a care group leader, Sunday School teacher, and is on the evangelistic team. Sandy Cove connection: Jim says, "I heard a preacher on the radio in Florida around 1988. The message he preached was from Sandy Cove. I began to search for Sandy Cove and found it, which must have been God because those were pre-internet days. Sandy Cove has been a blessing to our family for 20 years and a family tradition our children have grown up with through ClubCove and into CrossWalk."
Lt. Col. John W. Groth lives in Newark, DE with his wife Ranelle and three children. He is the Regional Director for the men’s ministry of Priority One Foundation and a Wing Chaplain with the U.S. Air Force, 512th Airlift Wing, stationed at Dover AFB. John is an ordained minister and preaches regularly at churches in DE, NJ, PA, NY and MD. Sandy Cove connection: John says, "I originally became familiar with Sandy Cove because my wife was planning a women’s retreat there. Subsequently, I was invited to speak at the annual Memorial Day event as an Air Force Chaplain. I’ve spoken there at church retreats, brought military members as a part of Operation Oasis and served as a Life Coach during the summer."
Mrs. Tara Plantholt lives in Bel Air, MD with her husband Rev. Rick Plantholt and three children. She is a full-time pastor’s wife and a commercial and residential realtor. Tara’s husband, Rick, is senior pastor of Calvary Chapel. Tara is very involved on the Calvary Chapel Pastors’ Wives Board, Women’s Ministry Chairman and Women’s Bible teacher. Sandy Cove connection: Tara says, "I went to a women’s retreat years ago at Sandy Cove and fell in love with it." Tara oversees the care of over 450 pastors’ wives at the Calvary Chapel conference held annually at Sandy Cove.
